Volunteer Leadership Award

Founding Leadership Award
Suzanne Reynolds has served CLC as an educator, leader, inspiration, and colleague. She will retire as Dean of the Wake Forest University School of Law this June. Long before CLC’s founding, Dean Reynolds taught family law to Executive Director Iris Sunshine and many volunteers and staff. Her three-volume treatise on North Carolina family law has become the authoritative reference across the state.
Dean Reynolds served on CLC’s first Board of Directors, later encouraging CLC’s partnership with Wake Law that has become the Child Advocacy Clinic. Her research with Professor Ralph Peeples affirms that CLC’s involvement in domestic violence custody matters significantly reduces a family’s chances of returning to domestic violence court. This evidence is invaluable to CLC’s ability to obtain support so we may grow to serve more children who need an advocate for their best interests.
Pollyann Holthusen took CLC’s board to a new level of active engagement in fundraising, events, outreach, and governance. She served for six years on CLC’s Board of Directors, including as Chairman. Pollyann guided CLC through our 10th Anniversary Celebration in 2015 and was the inspirational Chairman of the first Birthday Blast in the following year.
Pollyann has continued to be involved with CLC after her term on the Board as a sponsor, volunteer, and wise counselor. Her determination to improve young lives enabled CLC to take the leap toward wider recognition and support of our work throughout the community. The effects of her call to action will ripple outward for generations to follow.
CLC welcomes back the Camel City Jazz Orchestra’s quintet with vocalist Diana Tuffin. Camel City Jazz is the Triad’s own professional big band.
Camel City Jazz Orchestra Returns to the Blast
That was FUN!
Thanks to the great crowd that turned out on September 26 for the best Blast ever!
Look for our big 15th Anniversary celebration in 2020.
In the meantime, enjoy some photos of a great night, preparing us all to be a voice for the children who need someone on their side.
