The mission of the Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina is to provide children with quality legal advocacy focusing on domestic violence issues, high conflict custody cases and ensuring access to education. Our ultimate goal is to enable children to grow up in safe environments and to become emotionally healthy adults.
Guardian ad Litem: One who protects and represents the child for the purpose of a court action.
The Children's Law Center's Guardians ad Litem (GALs) represent the ''best interests" of the children involved in domestic violence cases and high conflict custody cases.
Thanks to a change in NC law concerning temporary custody within Chapter 50B cases, these children finally have an advocate in court.
